I like the manual mode for smaller areas like feet and upper lip, and the automatic mode for larger areas like legs. In manual mode, just press the flash button whenever you need to turn on the laser. In auto mode, hold down the flash button and it will flash every few seconds. The device makes some noise when it turns on, but it's no louder than any other device I've used. It is truly painless permanent hair removal. I used the highest setting and felt almost nothing, just a little heat as the laser flashed. I recommend starting on the lowest setting and then working your way up to a comfortable setting as everyone's skin is different. Half a million flashes are enough for years of home laser hair removal. The lamp head is removable and interchangeable but I don't see it for sale. If you want permanent painless hair removal at home, try this. You have to be patient as it takes several sessions to see results. At $130 with a $30 coupon, that's a good deal.
