Foreword: before I got my hands on it I only have budget models/devices on it used. Things like the Finnex Stingray, Current USA Satellite, Beamswork EA and DA and the Dual T5 device. I have no real comparison to a suitable competitor ATM. I'm happy to report that my installations responded immediately after installation. It is currently 20 gallons long, fairly flat at less than 12 inches from substrate to light (the legs add about 2 inches). I have moderately demanding plants like Aromatic Limnophila, Lobelia Cardinalis, Hygrophila pinnatifida, Blyxa japonica. , micranthemum umbrosum, marsilea hirsuta (tissue culture) and others to name a few. Haven't ridden a CO2 yet and the tank has been running for three months now, the light unit has been running for just over a month? I use ThriveC liquid fertilizer. Out of the box I was able to toggle and play with the settings from the remote and everything worked flawlessly. However, once installed it doesn't toggle between settings, instead turning on and off and I can play with the brightness but that's about it. I didn't play with him because I was lazy to be honest. I can turn it on in the morning and turn it off when I get back from work for a nice 8 hour photoperiod. This is definitely one of the brightest units in my house and can easily light up a room at night. The brightness is only slightly brighter than the BeamsWork DA FSPEC I've used previously in this tank but again the plants seem to thrive better with this light so maybe it gives them more preferred wavelengths. Brightness is not everything! I am very happy with this purchase and the performance. I can't deny how well my plants are doing.
