I really wanted these socks and what they were trying to do, but they fail in several key areas. 1) They are too short. I bought big ones and they are under my calf muscles which got my entire pants wet at the back. 2) This is a pony with a trick. They can only be used when snowshoeing as the leading edge will detach from your boots if you go without snowshoes. This means that on a trip that requires normal walking with boots and snowshoes, you need to take 2 pairs of gaiters with you. And now let's talk about the selvage 3) The neoprene shoes probably keep my feet a little warm, but they don't stop snow getting into my boots at all. I pulled them as tight as I could over my boots and the snow was still seeping up, under the tops of my gaiters and into my shoelaces. There the snow melted and soaked my boots. It was *worse* than no spats at all, as if that were the case, at least the snow wouldn't have got stuck between the boots and boots and melted from the increased temperature there. I really wanted to like these socks, but the execution isn't right. If they made them bigger maybe I could forgive other points.
