Very good knife, crappy sheath

First of all, this is a real damascus knife, so you have to keep oiling it or it will rust like crazy. Steel 1095 15H20 does this well. It can crack and rust at the corners, but it's a versatile knife. Keep it oiled, clean and sharpened and it will be a good knife. As with any forged knife, if the heat treatment and hardening are not done well, it can have grain problems and break when you hit it with a hammer like you are in the TV series Forged in Fire. The only problem I have is that the case is complete crap. The leather is good but very poorly made. The fit is loose, the leather extends well beyond the handle to provide a good grip, the inside of the sheath needs lining to keep the bars from rubbing against the knife, and the shape just isn't attractive. In general, buy a knife and get the best sheath.
