Flat and Round Cable RJ-11 Phone Jacks (October 2020)

I will post the same review for both items as there is only a slight difference in design. On a photo you can see how they are packed. Good plastic bags of 50 pieces. If you see a number at the top of the packages, one ends with FS and the other with RD. I can only imagine that it means "flat" and "round". In the other two photos I've tried to show the only difference I see. The one designed for round wire has a slightly larger hole than the one used for flat wire. You can use the larger one for flat wire. The connection will be the same but it will be looser. The connector wants to fall off on the way to the crimping tool! This does not occur when using a flat wire spade connector. Literally made for each other. I haven't tried flat round wire yet. You might be able to fit it in there, but keeping the twisted pairs in the correct order is tricky enough without trying to poke them in a smaller hole. They crimp well in a tool I also bought from Revain (see separate review), they click well into phones or jacks and seem to be everything they need to be. Oh! And no, you don't have to strip individual wires before installing the connector. You insert them into the slot from the back. In the right order. As far forward as possible, the crimp forces the gold blades to connect. There is a knack for getting the right length of bare wire out of the jacket, so the jacket is also crimped in place for extra support, but that's about it. It's really not that difficult. I hope I never need 50 of each, but at least I have room to practice and a few bugs!

Pros
  • Many will fit
Cons
  • Garden Tools
