Finally got around to using it. late return. It is incorrectly recognized as 5.1 in 5.1 mode by two different computers. it lists 5.1 as an option in the sound test, shows all 6 speakers, but no sound is played on speakers other than the front speakers during the sound test. Does not pass a processed 5.1 signal, only a raw DTS or DD stream will play 5.1. Yes, you can do that with one device in 5.1@24bit, 48k and with two different receivers. The device also causes my receiver to make lots of popping and booming noises when any beep is triggered or stopped e.g. B. when opening the Netflix website or when closing the Netflix website. The receiver does NOT do any routing or audio processing mode changes. This is the extra noise added by the Kanex box that sometimes doesn't transfer flow properly, causing loud noise to break through. This applies to both computers I tested, both TOSLINK and digital coax. With and without AC3 filter, standard and updated drivers, spend hours diagnosing and fixing problems. It has a ton of limitations, many of which have been noted in other reviews, many of which are unfortunately poor design choices and not bugs. The device defaults to 2.0 output mode when power is lost, so it needs to get constant power or come back. It can't handle DTS and DD 5.1 only at 48k. It has stupidly bright LEDs (blue and red. I had to seal them with tape). Worse, it somehow allows the computer to identify the device as a screen with limited audio capabilities (the whole point is to split the audio signal and send it to the receiver). This probably contributes to the fact that nothing other than the fronts can be played unless a *raw bitstream* DTS 5.1 or DD 5.1 is being sent. Instead, use a good sound card and separate the audio signal by source. I would not buy this again and I would not recommend it unless your situation presents no other choice. It was thrown in the trash can.
