I hold my MacBook Pro with the vents facing up. Considering the CPU intensive apps I run during the day, I find my laptop a lot cooler than just sitting at my desk. Where my fans used to spin regularly throughout the day, I never hear them when I stand my Macbook upright. Surprisingly, I find the extra slot much more convenient than I thought. I originally got it to keep my iPad charged and handy when walking to meetings and taking notes. I've also used it for things like my phone and USB sticks when plugged in. The kickstand width adjustment isn't very intuitive, but once I figured it out I never had to touch it again. So far I am very happy with my purchase.
