BEST TOOL FOR AQUARIUM! If you are looking for a way to manage your saltwater aquarium salinity, THIS IS IT! At first I thought this tester wouldn't work because I couldn't find the specific gravity measurement that my hydrometer reads. I found online that seawater salinity is typically 3.5% (expressed as 35 parts per thousand) or 35 ppt, which is what this instrument measures. This method is not affected by temperature, a problem with hydrometer readings. Different areas of the world vary due to differences in fresh water, so I set the aquarium water content to 33.5 ppt for my aquarium mates in Indonesia area and EVERYONE IS REALLY HAPPY... and now I KNOW the water salinity is right!
