My guess is that the splices are not soldered prior to joining due to the random hanging strands of wire. I have to use original cables to power my graphics cards. When moving cables, they offer no physical resistance compared to cables from power supply manufacturers. I assume the cable is 20 AWG. A guaranteed quality card makes me giggle until I think they mean business.
