Review on Shure SE215-K Sound Isolating Earphones: Professional Audio Quality, Secure In-Ear Fit - Black by Mike Woolford

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good sound but lacks quality

Good headphones. I'm not an expert on sound quality so I can't use buzzwords, but I can definitely tell how they differ from stock Android headphones. Foam ear tips do a good job of blocking out outside noise, resulting in richer sound and deeper bass. One important note is how they fit over the ears - the wires are designed to go through the ears and I find that very frustrating. They're difficult to put on without using both hands, and the memory wires around the earbuds don't fit as well as I'd like. They also cling to everything and everyone and take some time to relax. That's why I rated these four stars - otherwise really good headphones. UPDATE: The left channel cable breaks, so I have to buy a new cable. Luckily it's detachable, so I can buy a new cable for $30 instead of having to replace the whole thing. I changed my rating from 4 stars to 3 stars to reflect the fact that it broke after seven months of use. UPDATE 2: Today the piece of plastic that goes in my ear broke off and there are no replacement parts for each driver so I'll dock the star and bring it up to 2. I'm really really pissed that I had to put so much extra money into them because those parts keep breaking.

Pros
  • Heavy-duty armored cable makes replacement or adjustment easy. The molded wire ensures a secure fit, and the in-ear configuration keeps cables out of the way. The gold-plated MMCX connector features a snap-on mechanism that allows 360-degree rotation for a snug fit.
Cons
  • Expensive
