The part that goes in the ear is NOT gold plated.
The part that enters the year is not gold-plated. This piece is like cheap silver/fine jewelry and of poor quality - see picture. This is important because I bought this for my daughters as their ears are sensitive to gold. She picked them up from Amazon and was very happy they were coming so I was disappointed. Not worth the price. If you don't care you would love the earrings overall, they are cute and a good size for my 6 year old daughter as her first pair of earrings.
