I searched the internet for the right tray and finally found it at a very reasonable price. I wanted something big, strong, plastic and with built in handles. It's 20 x 15 inches, which is big enough to easily fit two dinner plates and a few other items. It's not light or heavy - it's just right to be durable and easy to carry from the kitchen to the patio and back. it wipes off easily. I lined the bottom with slatted sponge paper for better stability, but that's mainly because I'm a bit clumsy.
