Main use is to hold a mobile phone while capturing photos. Can be attached to a tripod. I use one to attach a cell phone to a Swarovski photo holder that fits over the eyepiece of a Swarovski spotting scope. I have a second mount that attaches to an Arca-Swiss clip. The clip allows you to attach your phone to the side of the Best Brackets camera gimbal mount. And sometimes I use the mount quite normally with a tripod. The only problem is that when you clamp the phone, you may need to change the orientation so that the camera lens is aligned and the clamp is not resting on the phone's side buttons. I haven't had a situation that I couldn't handle.
