Review on SATA Spark Plug Socket ST12919SC by David Silva

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A useful set of ratchet drives.

This kit is sold for removing and installing spark plugs and comes with a set of 16mm and 21mm spark plug sockets for this purpose. But the usefulness of this kit goes beyond spark plugs, because the kit's main tools - ratchet wrenches and extension cords - are designed for use in hard-to-reach places, and when working on a car (or many others), there are many hard-to-reach places . things) other than spark plugs. I would have loved to have had this set as I was working on a 1960's Chrysler New Yorker with a V8 engine that I spent hours on to get a spark plug that I easily removed forty years ago. Even today I see some engines with spark plugs that are incredibly difficult to get to. But I also find oil filters difficult to loosen at times - and brake mounts and door hardware. The two main features of this set are the flexible head ratchet and curved handle. Look at the picture to see how it works. Not sure if an offset handle is useful in combination with a flex head, but who knows, it might be a great addition. The flexible head is great. The second key feature of this set is the oscillating extension which allows you to work with fasteners or spark plugs at an offset angle rather than standing still. It's hard to explain how this works, but I've included an image of the manufacturer to help you understand the value of this extension. SATA makes quality tools for the serious worker and is part of Apex Tools and a subsidiary of GearWrench.
