Review on Sabrent 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub with LED Power Switches, 2ft Cable, Slim & Portable, for Mac & PC (HB-UM43) by Jeff Leu

The hub causes random disk disconnection.

Junk, the hub is causing drives to spin down randomly. I have this to connect external hard drives (drives have their own power supply) to my SFF PC when encoding videos. I plugged it in, started programming, and after about 20 minutes of coding, I heard a Windows hardware shutdown beep, followed by an error beep from the next room. When I entered the room, the encoding program gave a file I/O error and crashed. After force closing and restarting the software, I found that the associated files were corrupted. Thinking it was a software problem, I moved on to the next file and restarted the encoding. This time I worked in the same room and captured the moment the external hard drive disappeared from "Computer" and replayed the hardware shutdown signal followed by the same file I/O error again. The drive then reappeared, the files were corrupted again. I removed the hub and connected only one drive to the PC that I need at the moment and started the next encoding, the encoding has been running for an hour with no problems. I had no problems before installing the hub and no problems after removing the hub. Looking through the reviews, I found that this is a common problem with this hub, usually attributed to the hub moving, but mine was unaffected when there were problems. I am sending this back, DO NOT TRUST THIS COMMUNICATION!
