Aesthetically these shelves are a bee's knees. I have a collection of books to rival the Alexandria Library and in addition to a few bookshelves I have kept stacks in plastic crates around the high seating areas. Aside from occupying the first floor property, he just looked tacky. The shelves came with hanging hardware and my husband installed these little kids in no time. Now my living room has a lovely, warm, friendly vibe compared to a packed living room, and the sight of the books so beautifully displayed made everyone, young and old, pick up a book and flop onto the sofa. You must know. The shelves are covered with a protective varnish. Simply pull off the cover and the shelves are completely clean. Also, the front edge of the shelf could be made a little higher. You have to choose which books to display without falling over because they're too heavy, but that's a size issue versus a weight/strength issue. Otherwise I would have given them 5 stars.
