The edges of the mediator are not rounded. Can cut skin.
Picks work however if you get too close to the skin you may scratch/cut yourself as the edges of each tooth are not rounded. They are flat and sharp. I had a swollen lymph node in my neck from pulling and scratching my beard. NOT GOOD.
