I have various small herbs in pots: mint, basil, oregano, lavender etc. that have been eaten by crickets, grasshoppers and caterpillars on my patio. I put pots in these food stalls and now my plants are thriving. Plus, the mesh allows me to water the plants with a gentle mist from a garden hose without having to take them out of their shelters. I'm sure they would be great for protecting picnic food as well, but my alternative use turned out to be a little creative gardening genius. I will be buying more of these tents to protect seedlings in the spring.
