My laptop's camera was mounted in a window-side position (being right-handed and with monitors and other things on my desk, I couldn't change that position of my car) due to direct light from the window pointing directly at my camera My video calls were terrible. But this light made my video calls better. It has three levels of brightness and also warm and daylight modes controlled by a separate handy button panel, but I always have to set the brightness to maximum to make my video calls better. My only complaint is that I couldn't properly attach the lights to my monitor/laptop but I don't want to attach them there, I just place them on the table and turn them on when needed. I agree in principle to the purchase.
