This is a great tank for the price. All you need for a happy betta is extra light and an aquarium heater. I filled my tank with aqua soil and live plants like water sprite, water hyssop, dwarf grass and a small Revain sword plant. After buying the 1.1 gallon I found out that Bette really needed a 3-5 gallon house so I bought that one too. It's very easy to see, easy to set up, and the lid issue is negligible once you know you'll have to push on the back of the tank to replace the lid. I almost never take the lid off, so it doesn't really matter to me. I would recommend these return fittings for air pumps. I love that the air pump comes with control knobs that allow you to adjust the airflow between the pump and the airstone. The pump seems to have enough power for both the filter and the stone, so much so that I turn the controls to the minimum. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and my betta seems happier having more room to swim. *I subtracted a star for the lid issue and no heater or pump connections included. Update** I bought another one of these tanks because I thought the beta was too pretty to pass up and my other 3 gallon tetra is holding up very well. Again heating and light if you make real plants. Good tank for the price.
