I bought this for the BNC base of the magnetic mount, not the antenna. I have used this with Yaesu Ft-817/818 for HF/VHF/UHF in the field. I'll write it down I've noticed that coax is very cheap. It is very ribbed and has a large loss even with such a short span. The magnet is not very strong. While I have no plans (or plans) to use it in a moving vehicle, I don't think it will stay. The magnetic base has a flocked paper backing to avoid scratching the surface. The paper is very thin and I can feel two sharp points underneath. These are probably the points where the center conductor and shield will be soldered to the BNC. The tip can easily rub through the flocked paper and damage the surface it is placed on. Not to mention the possible short circuit of the channel. And remember this is paper so water can quickly destroy or seep through it and corrode the contacts. I just had to make a base but I was too lazy. I hope I can use the basic parts to build something better.73 K8OCL
