Review on πŸ’œ Amazon Basics 11.6-Inch Laptop Sleeve, Zippered Protective Case - Purple by Adam Mazie

No corner protection

This protects your laptop in another bag but not from falling. If you drop your laptop, it will most likely fall into a corner, whether you are carrying it in a case or other bag. Unfortunately, this case doesn't protect the corners very well. It's soft enough on the "faces" and the zipper corners have a grosgrain hem (between the neoprene and the zipper) that offers a bit of padding. As for the corners against the zipper, the story isn't so good: if your laptop sticks out between the two inside edges at the rim, then you only have a thin layer of unlined fabric in those two corners. When I press them with my hand, I feel the sharp corner of my laptop. Wrapping the edge in high-density foam fixes this and provides much better drop protection. Fits Lenovo Thinkpad T450s, although it's not "perfect" as other reviewers claim, it wobbles a bit in the up/down direction (looking at the main product image). No one seems to make a case specifically for today's Thinkpads, but the T450s is the same size as a 13-inch Macbook, so I might try a Macbook sleeve. Last but not least, why don't more laptop cases zip up the narrow side of the laptop? β€’ Most backpacks fit portrait laptops, so the slim side zipper allows you to remove and store your computer without removing the sleeves from the backpack.
