Review on S2 Bracket AD200Pro AD400Pro Speedlite by John Hall

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The thing is solid.

Slightly more expensive than more traditional flash arms (of which I have 5), but if you're not a beginner, well worth it. and offer fantastic fine adjustment. Where cheaper mounts would have a ratchet, this model uses a composite washer and metal joint not too dissimilar to that found on a $200 C-pillar knuckle, and I'd say it delivers a lot less tightening thanks to that special washer. You have total control over the angle at which your light is placed. The Bowens mount portion of this mount is made from high quality plastic and the entire base is aluminum unlike cheaper mounts which are quite prone to breakage. It feels like a true professional tool, unlike the $15 options. The only complaint I have about this mount is that part of the post connection is drilled quite deep. This is intended as a feature to allow the mount to be placed at right angles to the stand, but I'm not sure how many people will actually use it. The downside to this is that it takes me an extra second to place the light stand, being careful not to miss the sunken stand collar. The umbrella holder on this mount only works on friction. This speeds up installation and removal, but problems can arise on a windy day. Initially I only bought one of these after a couple of cheap mounts broke but after using this new one on 20 shoots for a few months I just plugged it in. Order another 4. Seriously, if you use outdoor lights regularly, buy these.
