My 11" MacBook Air was in this iPearl mCover hard case for 11.6" Apple MacBook Air A1370 and A1465 - PURPLE. I liked how thin it was and how it increased my Macbook's minimum volume BUT after 6 months the small tabs on the bottom broke and one of the latches holding the laptop in place also broke leaving the bottom cover falling slipped. out. Then it happened with the upper body, so that the upper body didn't stand still either. I was about to buy these again considering how cheap they are but stumbled across this one and decided to give it a try. I was between gray and blue and chose blue. I'm so glad I did, I love it. On the one hand, it looks very nice. Blue is a metallic blue with a slight sheen, it almost looks like satin with a matte effect. It's very thin, you only see it when it's bright. It feels like smooth, stretchy plastic and has a subtle texture due to the fine lines of the brush. In some photos the lines appear to run up and down the cover, but in mine they run across. The interior is lined with soft black velvet so it won't scratch my precious laptop and is easy to put back in place. The laptop is held on the bottom by two protrusions of about 2 inches on each side, and the screen is held in place by two 0.5-inch protrusions on each side and a 0.5-inch protrusion at the top of the screen and held position. The lugs are black plastic but are more durable than those on the Ipearl case and don't look like they will break off easily. Laptop and about 0.25 inch on the front, that keeps it hanging inside and prevents scratches from the sides or sitting in a tote bag, but I would like it to be 0.25 inch all around so it takes up less space. With the laptop in place and the case closed, it measures 8 inches wide and 12.75 inches long. The front is about 0.60 inches deep and the back is about 0.95 inches. I used to carry my laptop in a branded messenger bag (70283) that was about 12 inches wide. It still fit there but was tight and stretched him so nothing else fit. Although now I wish I had gotten a steel gray body as it would probably fit better. The case is more expensive than the Ipearl but given the build and much better looks I think it's worth the price.
