I had braces when I was a teenager playing the trumpet. I was struggling with various wax products at the time. I bought this for my daughter who plays trumpet and also had braces. It worked fantastically. It lasts longer and works better than wax or other top coats she's tried. If you have very crooked teeth I can see where the problem lies when fitting the bumper. I'd suggest experimenting with different lengths of trim (we did) and maybe a nail file to smooth out the sharp edges if you'd like. In any case, she has used this product successfully and I have recommended it to several young trumpeters.
