HP original or refurbished? That's the question

Original HP toner cartridges contain not only toner, but also drum and corona wire (eg important parts of the duplicating system). These parts are separate and work well too, but the replacement process presents some maintenance issues for non-technical people. You also need to know how they affect printing and when to change them. (Of course, if the average user never uses their printer too much, that might not even cross their mind.) But the genius of the HP system is that it always works, and always works well -- at least for hours and copies as we did could ever expect from a printer. and COMPLETELY in a different class from inkjet technology. So if you need that kind of reliability and error-free reproduction, you can get it by buying Original HP toner cartridges from HP. However, this technology is not rocket science. Therefore, a good remanufactured cartridge can be as reliable as the original cartridge, exactly the same, and the corona wire and drum can be replaced. This adds to the cost though and they don't need to be replaced as often as the toner wears out - somewhere between 2 and 10 times less likely, probably only people who remanufacture cartridges can tell us for sure and it might depend on the smoothness of the paper used etc. Therefore, on a remanufactured cartridge, the drum and corona wire are often inspected but not replaced. In fact, if used cartridges are sufficiently available and cheap enough, they can never reuse cartridges with damaged drum or corona wire. Some companies may even have lower standards than HP - imagine! After all, they cost less. So what I do is a) try to buy remanufactured cartridges from the most reliable companies possible, b) always have original cartridges on hand in case something goes wrong, and c) only buy remanufactured ones when the price difference is significant, shall we say less than the half . Also, this particular cartridge is designed for a very high resolution color laser printer. I receive copies with a print quality that is better than what the printers used to deliver. 3600 dpi in color is amazing. I have print quality paper (heavier, glossier, whiter) for my PR materials. It looks fantastic and I can print when needed for less than I can order copies (actually lower quality) from a printer. I will not trade the registration of four toner cartridges and original toner powder of pristine quality, new drums and wires for pennies per copy. So here's how I buy genuine HP toner cartridges! (But I don't always do this for every printing application. Whenever possible, I buy HP laser printers because I know how long they will last. ) I will not trade the registration of four toner cartridges and original toner powder of pristine quality, new drums and wires for pennies per copy.
