2021 Update: Honest Review See Tips App is a bit fiddly to install and run

2021 Update: 2 Year Warranty has Limited Value One of the four (4) S-90 cameras fell during the 2 year period Warranty period expired due to bad battery. The warranty terms state that after one (1) year the defective camera must be returned to China for repair. Get a 50% discount when you buy a new replacement camera. Soliom CS has informed us that replacement batteries are not available/sold. Lithium-ion batteries typically last 700-1000 charge cycles before they need to be replaced. Depending on usage behavior, which corresponds to a usage period of 2-3 years, your camera batteries (and your cameras) are "ready". for better value for Wyze branded cameras hosted on Revain cloud services as these Soliom cameras fail. The second problem is that after updating the S-90 cameras to the latest firmware 216.0.5.73, we also had problems with the SD card. We used high quality branded SD cards instead of low quality untitled cards, but the cameras stopped recognizing the previously working SD cards and in some cases the camera didn't work with the SD card installed, so we have the SD card removed while relying on Cloud Solio services. ================ The Source Review: At the price of Black Friday 2019, these unique Solar Powered / 10,000 mAh 1080p Wireless IP Cameras were a good balance of price and quality compared to the value of leading brands like Ring, Arlo and possibly Blink. We've had security systems with multiple cameras, both wired and wireless, for many years, but only recently have they been upgraded to smartphone or cloud-based cameras. price target. Another long-term concern is the longevity of manufacturer Soliom and its free basic cloud server. For example, a ring is an established "will be there" mark. However, we took the risk of buying several S90s in this price range and also needed WLAN and, above all, solar power. Strangely, most of the leading compact security camera manufacturers did NOT offer solar powered/powered cameras in significant quantities. The motion detection (PIR) settings have three settings: Low, Medium and High. Specifications state that the range is up to 16ft, the night vision range is up to 32ft, and the PIR field of view (FOV) is 120 degrees (the FOV of the camera lens is 160 degrees). From our use, we found that the sensitivity is a bit lower than expected. On the High setting, we don't get many false positives like many cameras do. Note. A common feature that Soliom's camera/app software lacks is the ability to set up "hot spots" or exclusion zones like windblown plants. Turn off the 5GHz transmitter to set up the camera pairing. Log into your router and look for this feature, which is usually found in your advanced settings. Don't forget to turn 5GHz back on after you've done all the camera settings. Also, log into your phone on a 2.4GHz WiFi network and download the Soliom smartphone app onto your phone *BEFORE* attempting to pair/configure via the app. If you leave the 5GHz signal on, the app will detect it and give you an error message. Regarding memory cards, the S90 supports Class 10 micro SD cards from 8GB to 64GB (max), but many operating systems will NOT format memory cards/flash drives with a capacity of 32GB and larger with the required FAT32 file system solioma. For example, Win10 only supports exFAT (circa 2006) or NTFS formats. One option/workaround is to use a 3rd party app like AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition (free, Pro is an upgrade) to format the 32GB or 64GB micro SD required by Soliom to FAT32. Make sure your router, a fully charged camera (more than 12 hours with a USB cable is recommended), and your smartphone are in close proximity while you pair and set up, which is pretty quick if you follow the tips above follow. Do not be discouraged, do not rush, consider the above. tips. You should be able to pair/configure your S90 cameras successfully. Be patient with the smartphone app, it's a little clunky. If the app freezes, close it, reopen it and try again. Sometimes the application fails to connect to the camera the first time or after repeated attempts. Monitor your camera's Wi-Fi signal strength and consider upgrading your home/work Wi-Fi network to improve signal in weak areas when your cameras aren't working. Sharing your cameras with family/friends, smartphones/tablets via QR code is a simple, multi-step process for any camera and device. Much luck.
