the material it is made of is perfect - plastic I think but with a slight silicone rubber and a touch of translucency (it is NOT translucent but just kind of hints (think caramelized corn out of a Halloween bag) It's just the right weight (ie it's light weight which helps with safety), the rocker is perfectly positioned, very little give or friction in the material enough for you to swerve a little (like travel a little) without them, went all the way, sideways and didn't kill you, my only complaint is if your feet are bigger than a size 8D (adult) they can be too small (outer parts of your shoes may touch the ground) If there is sand on the surface you are throwing on (even on an imperfect wooden floor), wi rd this will press into the bottom of the blast wheel over time and make it too sluggish. Help him well and rub him with some oil (careful, this helps too much in some cases). But I ended up buying two of them. one for use on very clean surfaces, the other for less clean surfaces.
