I have a large fluffy 15 pound cat that likes to get up and stretch when she scratches (and still uses her dining room chairs to get up and scratch) so I bought this scratching post . He loved it from the moment we installed it. It's really solid and only tipped over once (I think when it tried to jump onto the top and missed). The top shelf is a bit small for my tall guy but he seems to find a way to get up there and balance if he wants to. Can't say it saved my chairs, but it definitely gave him an alternative to focus on. It's big enough that it can stand and scratch and not tip over, which is what we needed.
