I'm very picky about the briefcases I use. I don't want something so big that I overload it to indicate where I'm going, like Quasimodo, big enough for my ultrabook, papers and ink pad, but small and compact enough that it doesn't dangle when I'm riding my motorbike. work and not get in my way over my shoulder as I walk a few blocks between offices. This bag goes above and beyond, so I'm tempted to buy another pair when the first one wears out. I checked, there were so many laptop pads in the stores that there wasn't room for anything else. As you can see from the photos on the webpages, at least the ones when I bought them show a top down view looking inwards with the sections open and divided. Padding is thin, but more than adequate unless you're carrying glassware or a lidless tablet that repeatedly bangs against the wall. I put my thin Dayrunner laptop (8x5.5) and Toshiba ultrabook in the padded bag, then a stack of papers in the briefcase and a water bottle in the outer pocket on one side. Now two small subpages. The handles don't fold in when not in use, and the shoulder strap isn't the most comfortable option, even when the bag is almost empty. It's trivial and doesn't matter when you think about it. I have a box full of discarded shoulder straps that have come with the luggage of various purchases over the years. If the quality of a strap is important to you, find one that meets your comfort needs and attach it. They're not too big on the handlebars so they don't hang around everywhere, but are still strong enough to sit in place. A few years ago I found some cheap grip pads that velcro tightened so I wrap them around the handles to tie them together while I'm carrying my suitcase - and as I said the handles are no bigger than they need to be so they doesn't travel.. Perhaps the handles and strap are the cons worth noting if they are important to your purchase, so I think they are worth mentioning, but ultimately they are completely irrelevant to my rating recommendation for best case in the size category. Update from May 2013: A A few months ago I bought a second one, this time in brown. The first has not worn out, but it is large enough for the second to be considered worthy. I even use the original strap with a second bag, find the best shoulder padding where the skin touches my shoulder and just put it on after loosening the strap where there is also a length adjustment. So now I have one for travel (new) and one for commuting to the office on a motorcycle with a better shoulder strap. Still the best portfolios I have. And how they endure my insults, maybe the last ones too.
