I've never used this construction for my cakes, I've only ever used wooden dowels and cake boards. But I really liked how they work! It was easy to cut the straw-like pieces to the right length and they held the cake together really well. We tested this by driving very bumpy and sloping country roads on a 15 mile drive to my nieces' prom. Everything has arrived safely!
