I bought them to store pillows and blankets. The material seems quite heavy, can't say I've noticed any horrible chemical smells, but I noticed right away that the zipper on them is actually pretty flimsy. I wouldn't overfill these suction cups, that's for sure. I put a large pillow inside (which still left plenty of room in the bag) and as I pulled the zipper to close it, I felt the zipper pull between my fingers. It bent and didn't break, which is great, but worth noting: don't overstuff them and then try pinching and closing them. It will definitely break.
