These straps are indispensable when using ratchet straps. I use them to secure cargo on my Subaru Outback's roof rack. Without them, I would have to wrap the ratchet strap around the stem and use the metal S-hook on the strap itself. With this use, the metal hook can hit the roof of the car and possibly cause dents and damage to the paintwork. These straps also came in handy for lifting my small boat onto a trailer (see photo). These straps are slightly wider than the S hooks on my ratchet straps. Still, I think it's a good product. Priced at $12.98 4, you get great convenience for a small price.
