I'm 5'4.5" and 128 pounds and I ordered XL. I have buttocks and thighs so I knew I needed room for that. If you If you are smaller in this area, you can most likely stay your normal size. I also wanted shorts that would allow my butt to breathe (not constrict) and not cut off circulation in my thighs, nor did I want my cheeks to sag. It is Perfect
