I bought this TV to replace a similar sized 17 year old analog TV that we use to watch the morning and evening news while we are at the sink sit. A very good TV for the price with the features I need. The TV will most likely be connected to an external power source for most of its lifetime, so I haven't tried it with batteries. The device is very light and feels a little thin, almost like a tablet. The kickstand is quite thin and feels fragile. Given that this TV will spend most of its life on our counter, I don't expect its durability to be a big deal. The screen is very bright but appears a bit bluish on the default settings. You can choose from several preset display options or manually customize the display settings. The horizontal viewing area is very large. This TV sits between our sinks, so we're looking at the TV at a 45-degree angle to the left and right. Even at these angles, the picture degrades very little - as long as we're at or above the screen's vertical viewing plane. Below the vertical center of the screen, the image quality deteriorates quickly. The instructions that come with the TV are minimal at best, so some experimentation is required. The tuner was surprisingly sensitive - I was able to auto-tune to quite a few local stations with the short vertical antenna that came with it, even in the basement of our house, across from where the TV stations are. I had to experiment with the "favorite" channels and the "skip" settings before using the up/down channel select buttons to skip over the unwanted channels. An unmentioned feature is the FM radio tuner function. The TV has an FM radio function, but there are no instructions on how to use it in the user manual. I finally figured out that I can press the "Search" button on the remote control and it will automatically scan and store all the FM stations it can pick up. and then use the channel up/down buttons or directly input the preset number to call the station.
