I have long, thick (but fine) straight hair that falls out pretty lifeless unless I heat or curl it. I've used hot rollers, curling irons, etc. but try not to overdo it. Now I put these curlers (4 or 5 pieces) on almost dry hair, just at the parting, blow dry it a bit and then leave it on while I dress, make up etc. The bounce lasts for three days - now I just have to do the hair wash/style twice a week (dry shampoo helps too). really helps! There are 12 reels in total - 4 each of large (1.5 inch diameter), medium and small (1 inch diameter). Although they claim to be "self-locking", I would recommend using clamps to hold them in place.
