I use this cable with an IR emitter. I installed two of these in my walls when running HDMI, surround sound etc in my basement to give my living room a nice clean look. I'm only using one cable at the moment, but I wanted to be able to bang walls a second time in the future. My IR transmitter never misses and all messages from the "eye" go through this wire. FYI I tried to "test" the cable with my iPhone and my headphones and it sounded like a 100 year old Edison recording. I think it might be caused by the connection configuration and the connection to the iPhone. Not exactly sure, but for an IR emitter. maybe better than perfect.
