Review on πŸ“˜ K&Company Retro Blue Smash Folio by Lori Aguirre

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the top three books.

Even though I like my smash page my least (actually, the two-page layout with a blue background with orange lines and bows is my favorite colors and patterns, it just doesn't work here for some reason), it still turns out to be one my favorite K&Company Smash tome. I think the best of these books are the ones you can use in almost any subject. They have children's books, gourmet books, etc. All good if that's what you're looking for, but I prefer books for general use. Would you like to turn this book into a children's book instead of using a specific children's book? Easy to do (well, maybe not on a page full of blah-blah). If you want this to be your art/poetry magazine, that works too. There are still some inspirational pages here, but also many empty/mostly empty pages. Approximately in the middle of this book is the annual calendar (the dates are not filled in, so it can be used for any year). There are different types of list pages (e.g. the top ten _____ and the page that asks you for your favorites). I would put this book alongside Orange Simple and Red Doodle. I prefer to use my own pen and glue/tape, although this book comes with a combo pen/glue stick. In a pinch it would be fine, but the pen feels weird and the ink isn't as good as other pens I own. The glue stick holds things in place, but once it dries it's much easier to peel off than some other glues and tapes. The rating of the book is not affected by the fact that I don't like the pen.

Pros
  • Retro Style: Hot bright peach typography with vintage images.
Cons
  • Lean Tutorial
