Review on Enhanced Prizm PZ-100 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine by Spellbinders by Jessica Lewis

Love it! Large Lightweight Punching Machine

Received my Prizm today and I love it! I'm including a photo of the Prizm next to the water bottle to show the size - it's SMALL! I'm also attaching photos of my first cuts, a few tiny alpha spots. I cut the letters out of watercolor paper (140lb) and the cuts were crisp and clean. This is a SMALL, lightweight punching machine. Compared to my Sizzix Big Shot, this machine is very light and "feels delicate" if that makes sense. It has to be handled gently, and the "sandwich die-cut" is different here - the order is base plate, then die with blade UP, then paper, then an insert on top. This machine does NOT emboss with binders - only dies that also emboss (I've experimented with a framed binder and several sandwich configurations, but no luck). I cut and embossed a small Christmas tree from Spellbinders of the Month (see photo). After cutting I replaced the cutting plate with a brown embossing mat and a blue embossing plate, only skipped once and the embossing was crisp and clean. The panels measure 6 1/4" x 2 5/8" and fit perfectly in the pencil case I already had on my desk. Plus, they're adorable! For my purposes this is a fantastic car. I have a Big Shot and a Grand Caliber for big/heavy/wide jobs, but I needed a little handy machine for quick little die-cuts, which I tend to put off because my big machines are so hard to reach. This is NOT a replacement for a large die-cutting/embossing machine, but for quick easy cutting and embossing this is a great solution. Another tip, the companion book (Read the Book!) recommends turning the liner over each time so the wear and tear is evenly distributed on both sides. This is good advice for any punching machine. Just be gentle with this little guy! If you feel resistance turning, stop and make sure your sandwich is right. You can't "push" it like you can sometimes do with Sizzix. This is a great purchase for certain light cutting and stamping purposes.

Pros
  • Small and portable machine - 5.75 x 4.25 x 2.75 inches and cuts up to 2.5 inches wide.
Cons
  • Slightly torn
