The fleece inside is thick, almost velour-like. My 9 year old is taller for her age but extremely narrow waisted; the only bottoms that fit are elastic leggings. Even though these are size 10, these fit very well. She is very pleased with how cozy and warm they are (moderate sensory dysfunction). Washed well in my normal laundry routine, inside out, tumble dry medium.
