Review on Sony XB950B1 Extra Bass Wireless Headphones: Enhanced Sound and App Control in Sleek Black Design by Agata Potocka ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The right product for me, the price suited me.

To tell you the truth, I had much higher expectations for the sound quality of headphones costing 7900. I would like to point out that out of the box, the sound is a little bit dry with an excess of bass. I found that listening to such a sound after listening to my Sony MDR-ZX600 was uncomfortable and tiring, but the middle and highs are still very detailed. I was able to recreate a sound that was similar to that of my older headphones by using the Xperia Z1 and adjusting the sound using the equalizer that is integrated into the device. Yet, despite best efforts, an excessive amount of bass cannot be eliminated (you will just have to get accustomed to it)! However, it is pleasant to listen. Separately, there is an option called Bass Boost, which is obnoxious since it emphasizes the "low end" while minimizing the "mid end" and the "high end," which makes listening to music unpleasant and exhausting. One thing that makes me happy is that you have the option to turn it off and not turn it on. The "warming up" process for such headphones can take up to one month, which is a very significant factor to consider. Within a week, the ZX600 was ready for action. We were satisfied with the high-quality materials, the dependability of the fastenings, and the convenience with which they could be worn; they do not press, they sit nicely, and they do not fall off when shaking. They simultaneously give off an impression of being very impressive. The autonomy was satisfied. The headphones have a life span of five to six days if used everyday for three to four hours of listening. The design is of the highest caliber. By the way, now everyone is attempting to listen to them, and some of them are even spitting at the sound (because they are unaware that the equalizer is the hidden weapon). Excellent headphones; nonetheless, the sound quality "out of the box" was a little disappointing; however, this can be adjusted. Added on 10/12/2022. After a year, the plastic swivel mount that was attached to the right ear snapped. SC did not remedy the problem because there were no parts available. I was forced to make the necessary adjustments on my own: at first, I used a metal clamp, but that did not help for very long. Next, he constructed a screed out of wire, which eliminated the possibility of rotation (does not interfere with operation), but gave strength and continued to function.

Pros
  • Long battery life, high-quality sound (which may be improved with an equalization), user-friendliness in terms of wearing and controlling the device, and ergonomic design.
Cons
  • Straight out of the box in terms of sound, the "Bass Boost" function
