I bought this to support my ankle after spraining it a week and a half ago. I got tired of wrapping it in an ACE bandage every day and decided to try wrapping it around my ankle. Unfortunately, while I really wanted to like it (the sleeve itself was comfortable, the height and colors were great), it doesn't suit me at all. According to the size chart, all my measurements indicated size L / XL. I have women's shoes 8.5/9, 8.5" around the arch and 8" around the ankle. So a word of caution - if you have thinner ankles (mine is 8 inches in circumference) this cuff may not provide ankle support. The smaller size fits much better. There is definitely more compression at the foot than at the ankle, but the ankle is now snug and snug against my skin, not loose like it was originally. I still find the Ass Bandage offers tighter compression because you can control it yourself, but I can wear the sleeve all day and it doesn't bother me. I sprained my ankle again the other day, put this sleeve on right away and there was almost no swelling. Definitely recommended, although the size chart may not be for everyone.
