Review on Sew Link Stitch Attachment Brother Sergers by Amber Perez

It works but there is room for improvement

For the price this binding works beautifully. I use it to tie the neckline and sleeves of handmade garments and love the result. (See photos of the front and back of the bindings) But I'm only giving it 4 stars because of three problems: (1) There are no instructions and I had to go online and use my embroidery book to figure out how to use it. (2) No screws were supplied to attach it to the cover. So you need to order two extra parts for this to work properly (cover and set screws). and (3) the channel that the 2 screws attach to is wide enough to allow the binding to move even when gently tightened. This can shift the alignment of the piping as you sew. I've heard other people use Bluetac or Sticky-Tac to hold things in place and it works, but the spiral channel really needs to be designed for a better fit. (I have no idea if the Janome version has this problem, maybe it does.) You might also want to get a clear foot as I think the factory foot is too long to work with this binder. I have the Sew-Link clear foot and it is perfect. Once I line up the binding and slip and then staple the trimmings to make sure the misalignment doesn't get in the way, it stays in place and lines the binding perfectly for professional results. I would recommend this unit and am really considering buying the single fold version.
