I have used almost all car mounts and each has its own disadvantages/characteristics. More recently I've used a phone mount with a CD mount that has worked really well, but now every rental car I take for business trips when I need a GPS phone mount, most don't have a CD player. This simple solution solved the problem. The only issue I've seen with this is that if the phone is one of the larger phones (Note, iPhone Plus, etc.) the angle of the phone can cause the phone to fall out if you turn too quickly or accelerate . . The only other downside would be that you'd want your phone to be vertical instead of horizontal. Again, the phone's extra height can cause it to fall. Basic physics in action. As none of these shortcomings affect me, it works well and fits and adapts really well to the different vehicles I use when traveling.
