Not French

They're not supposed to be French, maybe just stallions. They cannot be attached without bending the wire. I took a large needle and pushed it through, enlarging the hole and opening the other end. They can be used but are still difficult to press. I bought them because they are bigger than tiny tubular backs and I have arthritis in my hands. I was looking for something to pick up. I would say only buy these if you want them to be studs in the back.
