Review on Female Output Splitter Adapter Accessories by Marcel Robinson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not for applications with more than 2A total output Very thin wire inside - 26AWG maybe?

This splitter has a medium design. I didn't notice any external problems. However, I was in the process of hard-wiring the input side of the splitter to my power supply and found that the inner wire was very thin. I was able to easily thread it through the 24 AWG hole in my AWG gauge wire, leaving room to wiggle. I could probably stick it in a 26 AWG hole if I tighten the twist. This is a 14 strand wire and I have measured the thickness of a single strand from 0.1mm to 0.11mm. Based on some wire gauge reference charts I found online, these measurements are approximately 26 AWG. By referring to some cable size charts and current limits I have found that this cable is suitable up to a maximum of 2.2A. for "chassis cabling" (short distances). It would be a lot less for "power transmission". As this cable is sold as a power distributor for "monitoring supplies" I would not recommend it for this application and I would not use it for my project where I expect a maximum current of around 3 amps. The description also states that the cable is 15 inches long. It's actually closer to 13.5 inches. The input end of the cable to the splitter is 7 inches long. The molded section of the splitter is 1" long and the four output ends of the cable are 5.5" long. Disclaimer: I'm not an electrical engineer, just trying to do some research to make sure I'm working safely. I hope this information helps you decide if this product is right for your application. If I have provided inaccurate information please let me know so I can update my review.
