Great camera so far

Hopefully this camera is the end of a long search for the best security camera for my needs and it's no lie that I've tried the fifth camera. I have tried Firstrend, Yi, SV3C PTZ and Jennov PTZ cameras. Firstrend had connection issues (cameras disconnected), no matter what I tried, Yi worked great BUT wanted you to pay a monthly/annual fee to access your videos, SV3C PTZ worked fine for about a month and then Wi-Fi dropped off and didn't I'm not coming back, Jennov PTZ didn't connect to my network. I'm using a Netgear ORBI dual satellite Wi-Fi system, so connecting by range isn't an issue. So here we are at Reolink. The first impression so far has been great. Pros: The camera itself is beautifully crafted with a metal body. .Setup was very easy, as soon as I opened the phone app it recognized the camera and added it. Video quality is amazingly clear (see pic, spiders seem to like it too). The fact that it works on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz is huge. Most IP cameras only work at 2.4 GHz. The connection through the phone app was fine, the connection can be a bit slow. The desktop app is simple and works on both PC and MAC (big plus) compared to other cameras that only work with PC. Cons: Out of the box, the reset button and LAN port caps were missing, so I had to tape them over. As said, the connection via the phone app can be slow. Use Yahoo Mail instead. Gmail just doesn't work. Motion detection is very sensitive, even on the lowest settings I keep getting false notifications. We had rain last night and it got in the way so much that I just turned it off and as you can see in the night shot the spiders were forming webs in front of the lens which also disabled detection. (I will fix it tomorrow morning). So overall I'm very happy with this camera, I hope it continues to impress me, if so I'll get a few more and hopefully the Wi-Fi PTZ version.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Out of fashion
