Review on Optimized Kit: Kicpot Wool Felt Disc Polishing Pads and Backing Pad, Including M14 Drill Adapter - Perfect for Grinding and Polishing Glass, Plastic, Metal, and Marble by Shantel Griffin

Effective for polishing but not very durable.

Bought for general purpose metal polishing with a Dremel. I've bought smaller, wider fabric wheels in the past, but they're expensive and a bit wasteful as the metal interface becomes unusable as the fabric wears out. They can only be felt 100%. They are very easy to use - you insert a bolt into your dremel, twist the felt pad and you're done. I have used various polishing pastes with it and only used it to buff the surface for the final shine. They are relatively good for both purposes, quick removal of tarnished surfaces. They're not very durable either though - I went through three pads to polish just one brass bezel - a brass ring about 1" wide and 10" in diameter. They tend to just suddenly fail and throw half the spacer somewhere in the room. I had no problem with the grub screw scratching the surface after this happened as it is exposed a lot, but there is a risk of this happening. Basically, you have to be a little more careful with them than with standard fabric wheels. But if you want it to be cheap, you can use it to clean rough surfaces as a first step in preparation. Plenty of spacers and a few posts are included, giving you relative freedom to experiment. In any case, for this purpose I recommend them. but there is a risk that this happens.
