I'm blind - don't think it can be used for its intended purpose but I used it to save myself a lot of heartache. When I cook on a table in the kitchen, almost everything slips and eventually falls to the floor. For some reason I just lose sight of the edge of the counter. My brother installed it about half an inch from the edge and it helps create a buffer so things don't slide off and fall onto the floor as easily. It's not like something won't slip away. Something like bell peppers can go very easily, but something like bread or bagels seems to hit the speed bump :-) and stopping things like knives and utensils, it tends to slow them down. That's what I use it for. I doubt anyone will actually read this review, but that's ok, I hope this helps someone. Have a nice day
