So I installed these reverse lights on my '08 Tundra six months ago. As we all know, the reversing lights are only used when you put the reverse gear in... so very short usage time compared to normal driving... At first I was very impressed. Very bright, just what I was looking for. Spring turned to summer and the days got long and I didn't drive at dusk/night so I couldn't see the reverse behavior. Recently, as the days were getting shorter and I was getting home late from work, I pulled into my driveway and noticed that I didn't have any backup lights at all. I locked the truck's wheels, applied the emergency brake, and backed up. I went back to check the lights, of course...the reverse lights are off. I pulled them out today (see photo) and they blew themselves up. For example, it exploded spectacularly and burned my reverse light sockets. They looked great initially, but after about six months of light use they broke down and burned out the sockets on BOTH my taillights. Look for something different.
